A Quick Question For Computer Sorts

I have a problem. Sims 2 doesn't exactly play fast. In fact, it plays pretty slowly on my computer. Now, question for you:
I have two hard drives, C & D. The original Sims is on my D drive while I installed Sims 2 on the C drive, where most stuff goes anyway. Now, my question is, will Sims 2 run faster if I remove the original from the other drive?
I really don't understand computers. I can type, I can use programs, but I don't understand computers themselves. Help me so I can find a way to actually play Sims 2 rather than just sitting around waiting to play. *weeps*
PS. Family computer totally fucked. Told my mummy that it was way beyond my knowledge and way out of my scope and to please just call in professional help.
