OK, I've noticed that there are different versions of the Language Meme going around, so I thought I'd fill out bits I haven't yet:
22. The bit of the street the cars drive on? The road.
23. What water comes out of?
A tap.
24. That plant that kids throw at each other because it sticks to clothing?
Sticky weed! We used to LOVE that stuff. Much fun can be had when it's available in large quantities around the school playing fields. *snicker*
25. Those little balls of froth on plants in spring, which contain some moth or other's eggs?
Dunno.
26. Girls' lower-half underwear?
knickers.
27. Boys' lower-half underwear?
pants.
28. The cloth you had when you were little and always slept with, and perhaps sucked your tongue with?
I didn't have one, but I know what you mean. Security blanket I guess.
29. Warm knitted top typically made of wool?
A jumper. We also call sweatshirts the same sometimes as a generic thing, although a jumper wouldn't be a sweatshirt.
30. Baked in an oven, made of flour, butter, an egg, milk:
A baked thing? It sounds kinda weird just those things. My mum would know, I'm sure.
31. A single thistledown seed flying free.
a bit of crap in the air.
32. Place where you. Er. You know. Use the euphemism:
Toilet. Bog. Even sometimes the Pissoir (like abbatoir).
33. The sometimes grassy area in the middle of the street which separates both sides of the traffic:
embankment? No, that's on the sides... I don't know- I know it has a name but I can't remember. Central reservation perhaps? I really can't remember.
