Was forced to get up at eight this morning (bastard time of the morning) in order to get to Newcastle Crown Court by 9.45 for an accompanied court visit required by the NCTJ (the people who will run my journo exams when I do them). Wasn't really bad- got to the see the (fairly dull) summing up of a murder trial by the judge but we went off after that rather than wait around for the jury to come back. I later discovered on the BBC regional news that the bloke got sent down for life and the woman collapsed on hearing the verdict (which we so narrowly missed seeing) and hasn't been sentenced yet.

What else? After court most of our group went to a pub for lunch (my idea) which was pretty amusing and then [livejournal.com profile] emony and another chick from our class (hereafter known as L) went into the city centre- was just as well L came cos neither me or Emony know our way around there! L took us into Eldon Sq. shopping centre but not before taking us into a fab, large music shop. :D :D I bought meself a harmonica which I intend to learn to play so I can be yet more Dylan- and Plant-like. So far sound like a five year old with a kazoo, but what can you do? Am currently googling for online lessons.

Just found out on E!Online that David Hemmings has died. He was a pretty cool guy, you know. Weirdly, he seems to have been popping up quite a bit lately in my consciousness- he's been in a few things I've seen lately and only yesterday I was watching Gangs of New York (as a PotC break) and he's in this as a guy called Schermerhorn. Not to mention that I saw Barbarella not too long ago and a bunch of other stuff... I believe he's in Gladiator too. For one shining moment David Hemmings was the coolest star in Sixties Britain and now sir, I salute you.
