This is what happens when Y!M goes down....
Wednesday, 16 June 2004 02:34I started packing. Seriously.
This is my fourth year of academic study away from home, and not once have I ever really started packing anything before the last minute (I love the Last Minute, and the Last Minute loves me). Not even in California, where I had so much crap I had to practice packing to do it, did I actually pack before the last minute. The shuttle bus to take me to the airport arrived and I was still in the last throes.
But I already started. My mama's arriving on Friday night, sleeping over and then driving us down on Saturday (will make PP chat, yay!), and I've already started. This is so weird, not least because my pinboard in front of me was choc full of stuff two hours ago and now just has pins and a Doors calendar. This is so unlike me.
I have realised that I'm now thoroughly tired of living in two places like this. Novelty value lasted most of the first year, UCI was special and third year was just madness. Now I just want all my stuff in one fucking place and I do NOT want to live in boxes ANY MORE! I'm tired of having to watch the same six videos over and over again because they're all I brought. This is why I spent so much time n money at Blockbuster this year and why I have downloaded movies. I like the autonomy of living all on my own, and I really quite liked my room this year, with its minifridge in the room and the en-suite bathroom. But I want my room, with all its stuff in it. I want my own damn bed, my own damn desk and my own child-size bookcase turned CD storage unit.
Of course, our house is still a mess from the rewiring thing, so when I get home I'll probably have to remain with my life in boxes and maybe even sleeping on the floor.
OMG- what if the internet isn't back up yet? *dies* Looks like I still might miss chat and everything else too! *weeps
PS. Does anyone know the most efficient way to pack a tambourine?

Date: 2004-06-15 18:55 (UTC)Does it have a skin? If so, wrap delicate small items in tissues
or toilet paper if you're strapped for cashand use it as a box for them.If not, wrap the cymbals in tissues to stop them clanging during transit, and stuff it down the side of your box of books/videos, where there's a gap (there's always a gap).

Date: 2004-06-15 19:27 (UTC)Cos I didn't have to move out at all since September (at Lancs, I had to move out every holiday) I've really acquired tons of stuff. I can see it not all fitting in the car. *meep*
