apollaI forgot to mention a few weeks ago that I heard a really bizarre story from Back Home.
To protect the innocent/guilty, this is deliberately vague:
One of my friends (call her L) called last week to see how I was (she's much better at the keeping in contact thing than me) and to tell me that two people I know have been involved for a while. Let me explain:
Imagine the handsomest boy in your class/year. Beautiful, but he knows it, he's the one that all the girls get a crush on at one point. There wasn't one of these in my year at my school, but there was at Louise's. We shall, for the sake of argument, call him A. He could be quite nice, although I didnt know him aside from Drama Class that I took there for ALevel. He wasn't actually part of the class. That's important later on.
Now imagine a drama teacher. Early 30s, always dressed in pink/black and imagines herself to be sophisticated and worldly. In reality, she's a drama teacher in a Home Counties backwater. Nice enough compared to horrid teachers, but a few years down the line you realise that you didn't learn anything in her class and that she essentially looked down on you.
Now, think back to drama classes when you had to set up for a show. Lights and the like. A is always there, usually doing lighting and things like that. You think little of it, cos some of his pals are in the class. To demonstrate how much he was there: L had forgotten that he wasn't in our class.
If gossip is true (and although it isn't usually, this is a strange story), then A and the Teacher have been going out for about four years.
Except that 'about four years' ago we were actually still at school. Wrapping up before our exams, to be sure, but still at school. Even if the figures given to L are vagued up, it still means A and the Teach got together very soon after he left her school. Never mind that he was an immature twonk anyway, it's all quite strange and yet makes some things from my ALevels make sense. I'm not for a second suggesting anything happened before he left school (I don't think she'd be that stupid) but it makes some sense. It's not a story that's hard to believe. Also, I think L and others have been quite curious as to why you never see A out and about in town anymore although you do see his friends. Now we know why.
I'm not big with the gossip normally (like I give a flying one about anyone but me) but this was kinda funny.
