Right. After seeing A View To A Kill (a nadir of movie making, let alone a nadir of Bond movies), The Living Daylights and Licence To Kill this afternoon, I can now make an informed decision about James Bond.

Pierce Brosnan is the best. I already knew this- I think most people will always like 'their' Bond, ie the Bond of their generation. Unless you're really unlucky and your Bond was Eyebrow Man.
Timothy Dalton is my personal second best. Although I got the feeling that he felt it was a little beneath him sometimes, I thought he was excellent.
Sean Connery is the third best. I don't agree with the dudes who say he's the Very Best just because he was first. I think he's let down by the technology available to him at the time and the fact that parts of his films (fight choreography mostly) have dated quite a bit.
George Lazenby is fourth best. I know most people think he was shite, and he kinda was, but his one JB movie still has one of the best endings. I don't think he was handsome enough, charismatic enough or talented enough for the job, but he's still better than...
Roger Moore. Seriously, the man was shite in each and every one of his movies. I can't find it in my heart to hate his Bond movies because they were a staple of my childhood holiday television. I remembered more things, especially set pieces, from his movies than any of the others (although I still had a vivid memory of the shark and eel bits from the start of License To Kill) because they're the ones I saw when I was younger and Bond was on telly. Still, he's bad, the movies are bad and I think in the last couple he was far, far too old to play Bond. The 'Blofeld' pre-credits bit at the start of For Your Eyes Only was cheap, nasty and left a nasty taste in the mouth, frankly.

That said, I want to be an arse-kicking all-action Bond Girl when I grow up.

Actually, fuck it, I just wanna be James Bond.

Also in Clare News: My ukelele arrived today. Took ages to get it even nearly tuned. Will have to work on that some more.
The Adventures of Robin Hood, starring my darling Flynn has been released on Special Edition 2disc DVD. Had I not purchased a ukelele and a (fake) Tiffany bracelet on eBay, I woulda bought it in HMV earlier. I'll get it another time. Just in time- my VHS version really is worn out.
Back to class tomorrow. Can't describe how non-enthused I am about it.

While I've never really been very into Bond, my father is obsessive about it, and I have managed to see quite a few films (we own every single one ever made on remastered DVDs--don't ask, especially because they all become a blur to me after a while :P). Anyway, no one in my household can stand Roger Moore at all, and I really don't know how he was able to pull it off for that long. My personal first is also Pierce, but dad's is Connery, and I do think he was a great bond--just dated, as you said. :) Don't ask me about specific films though, because chances are that I've seen it at one point or another, and it's become lost in the fish bowl that is my mind :P.

I know EXACTLY what you mean! I realised a few weeks ago (when Goldeneye was on telly) that I had in fact seen every single Bond movie, but was at a loss to remember much because it had always been when my little brother was watching them (he LOVED Bond as a kid). Some stuff sticks in your mind though- for me it's the shark stuff in Thunderball and in License to Kill, and the end of On Her Majesty's Secret Service.

I always thought Roger Moore was a twat- since deciding to watch every single Bond movie again I've been reminded exactly why.
