Hello there, it's been a bonkers sort of weekend. As regular readers know, my Saturday was spent cleaning (all right, watching James Bond movies, whatever). Then yesterday my mum and dad flew up to see me, hence the cleaning the day before.

It was actually sorta fun, as I was expecting. My mum is a true delight when in a good mood and she was yesterday. This may be because they got a room at the Travelodge for only five pounds on a special offer. More that than the fact it was Mothers Day yesterday. We went into Newcastle but the interesting places were closed so we ate at Zizzis, where I went with [livejournal.com profile] rose_rain once. This time the waiter did not have dirty jeans and did not attempt to put parmesan on my food, so it was from that POV, much better.

It turns out my dad really wants to see Troy as well, although not for some of the same reasons as myself and my friendslist! It all sounds very interesting and cool to him, especially when I mentioned the whole 'sailing of the thousand ships' part.

Anyway, after we then went around the two malls in that part of Newcastle, we went back to S'land to their hotel and just watched the telly, including the third episode of The OC, which I will admit to [livejournal.com profile] rose_rain is getting more and more interesting, although I still don't think either Seth (?) or Ryan are actually particularly attractive. Sorry, love.

Then today I went into Newcastle again with a girl from my class to go to an art exhibit at the university gallery, basically for an assignment we have to do. Was totally not what we were expecting, although it didn't suck. Then I met my 'rentals (who'd been to the MetroCentre) and went to a couple of places we couldn't go to the day before cos they'd been shut, including the big department store Fenwicks, which has a really nice food court (thanks for the headsup Kristina!) and they bought me some mortadella, which I haven't had for ages because they don't have it anywhere in Sunderland that I know of.

AND! They bought me shoes! Shoes to go with vintage-style clothes! Black leather Mary Janes with a lavatory heel. I'll have to get used to heels that high (am not good with such things) but they are of the rockage.

And we ate in Frankie and Benny's, which is OK food AND has Dean Martin music going most of the time. My tiramisu was fabulous an' all. :D :D

Not to mention that yesterday I nipped into HMV while my mother made pilgrimage to TK Maxx and bought Thin Lizzy's album Vagabonds of the Western World. How I love you, Philip!

So, all in all, v. good weekend, esp. when you factor in the birthday presents I was given yesterday- GEORGE HARRISON DARK HORSE BOX SET BABY!

When tiramisu is done well, it is like a choir of angels singing. Of course, when Dean Martin sings, it's like a choir of angels singing, so really it was a win win situation!
