I just bought the movie Elizabeth on DVD, you know, the one with Cate Blanchett... I saw it at Crimbo and liked it...

but they've spelled fervent as fervant in the opening captions.

There's no excuse. None.

My history geekness cannot allow you to watch this film... it is a travesty of historical fact!

My movie geekness loves this film and doesn't care about inaccuracy... no one goes to the cinema for a history lesson!!

Oh the dilemna! although I shall veer towards the outraged history geek... sometimes there can be too many inaccuracies!

Where do I begin?! She DID NOT have an affair with joseph Fiennes... the time scales are all out i.e. the visit from the french prince didn't actually happen til she was much older and more bald... the aforementioned french prince was not a gay orgy-loving fop... it's as if it was 'Elizabeth - the abridged version'... which actually makes a very interesting period of history more interesting and the film's use of visual imagery is outstanding. It was an utter Godsend for my dissertation... which has all the rest of the bits and pieces you may need to know if you're that interested.
