A few things.

First things first:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY [livejournal.com profile] ladyaeryn! You rock muchly and I hope today and the year that follows is everything you want it to be.

OK, it says a great deal for my sleep habits that I stayed up all night for the Oscars but only got up an hour later than I would on a Monday (or indeed, any other day without class to go to).

Oscars.... Hmm. First off, I was pretty surprised by the number of people that came to chat- I thought it might be more like three or four people! This alone made this year's Oscar ceremony my favourite ever.

That said, I'm really not bothered one way or the other who won anything this year, not having a particularly emotional attachment to any of the films or nominations(except Johnny-does-Keef in Best Actor).

But the Oscars remind me, just like watching That's Entertainment! does, why exactly I care. I know most people think I'm a total nutter (please note the correct usage!) for sitting up all night to watch a bunch of pretty, arrogant people in uber-self-congratulation mode. But you see, I am so very much in love with the movies. As much as I love music. I love them, you see, and the Oscars remind me why.

And lastly, I FINALLY managed to download the entire Lisztomania soundtrack (all in one go, unfortunately). Given that I had my computer on about 23 hours in the last 24 for this, and that I LOVE that movie (which is deleted and thus unavailable for purchase) I am over the whole sodding moon about it. Roger Daltrey has a voice-in-a-million, I'm telling you.

*huggles* Thanks, sweetie! :)

He was the only one I was actively rooting for - I kept hoping the Academy would totally surprise us all and award him, but my hopes were never really that high. Overall, I was completely unimpressed by how things turned out.

Predictable, is the way I'd put it. Before I lost count (somewhere around the 14th award) I'd only got two predictions wrong, and for obscure awards. I may be arrogant, but I don't think I'm psychic!

It was predictable. Really, who didn't expect RotK to absolutely sweep the ceremony? I don't regret watching Episode I and Buffy for the bulk of it - even if I've seen them both before, they were still more interesting than the parts of the Oscars I did sit through. ;)

I'm very cross that Johnny didn't win... however since he wasn't playing a 'worthy' role, we couldn't really expect the Academy to indulge us. When was the last time a lightweight'comedic role won a best actor/actress Oscar?

On a different note, damn my computer for playing up at chat! By the time I got it to function, it was time for sleepy-bye-byes anyway. I'm sorry I missed it
