Happy birthday to my beloved John. You were the first of my heroes, and they all have to measure themselves against you. I'm not going to make any cliched, obvious jokes about your age, cos it's stupid.

What is the silliest part of your music collection? Anything by Chas n Dave, surely? Gertcha.

What film is guaranteed to make you cry? Dunno. I don't cry much, but I can't stand to see someone else crying. Ergo, anyone who weeps or wails on TV or in a movie is likely to have a little of my sympathy. But not much. Casablanca always leaves me feeling like I want to cry.

If you could have plastic surgery, what would you have done? My teeth. My Austin Powers, British stereotype, two root canals on Tuesday teeth.

What is the little physical habit that gives away your insecure moment? I don't think I have one. Insecure moments, that is. I'm an arrogant little bint far too wrapped up in her own fabulousness. ;)

Do you have too many love interests? No.

Do you know anyone famous? No.  [livejournal.com profile] rose_rain says we saw the singer from The Hives at Oxford Circus, though.

Spontaneous or planned? Spontaneity is pretty cool, and planning has some merits.

What do you miss most about being a kid? Everything. All of it.

Are you happy with your given name? Yeah. I used to get awfully annoyed that people would always shove an 'i' into it. In fact, I've been called every variant of Clare under the sun, and always my own last. Now I just say 'Clare, spelled like the county' and most people seem to know what I'm on about. When they don't, I'm generally offended by their lack of Irish knowledge (it's not like unknown, man) rather than the inability to spell my name.

What was the last song you were listening to? Possibly something by Thin Lizzy. Yes, that sounds like me.

Have you ever been in love? No. I quite honestly believe that to be in love, it has to be at least partly reciprocated, because that's how it works. I have loved people, I've thought I've loved people but I have never been loved in return. Shame, cos as Nat King Cole said, it is the greatest thing you'll ever learn.

Do you talk a lot? Yes.

Do you like yourself and believe in yourself? Pretty much. I'm just waiting for the rest of the world to get with the program.

Do transient, homeless, or starving people sometimes annoy you? No. I will tell you know that I don't give money to people on the street or anything, not because I don't care but because I just do not trust the people of Great Britain, homeless or not.

Do you consider yourself to be a nice person? Mostly. Maybe 60/40.

Do you tell your friends about your sex life? I don't have one, so it remains a very short conversation. Even if I did, I don't think I would. Some stuff should remain unspoken, I think, or at least remain between the people involved. ;)

What's the one language you want to learn? Irish. I acutally went into the bookshop to look for a book on it the other day. Only had some crap looking tapes, so I didn't bother.

What do you order at a bar? Usually Diet Coke. Sometimes Guinness. Sometimes Diet Coke and Jack Daniels, but in two separate glasses, which always confuses the bar staff. Like it's rocket science.

What do you cook the best? There's a few things I do really well, but they're all invented mostly by me. I'm not a person who uses cookbooks.

Favorite writing instrument? My computer, really, cos my handwriting is so atrocious.

Would you ever go out dressed like the opposite sex? I own two ties, a cravat and my own tuxedo. I'm surprised more people don't assume I'm a lesbian, frankly.

What kind of books do you like to read? Depends. Mostly rock and roll biographies at the moment. My rec: Phil Lynott: The Rocker.

What's one thing you're a sore loser at? Dunno. Oh, I do: feeling like someone knows more about something than I do. It doesn't happen often. I'm a proper rock geek- I get annoyed that people don't know as much about rock as I do, then get really fucked off when they do!

If you don't like a person, how do you show it? It's been a long time since I've genuinely disliked someone I've had to be around. Being coldly pleasant seems like the best way to be from my perspective.

What kind of first impression do you think you give to people? I dread to think.

What's one thing you like to do alone? Play the Sims 2. It was fun to muck about on it with [livejournal.com profile] rose_rain but my brother trying to do it yesterday with me was just annoying. It's a game for one, people.

When's the last time you cried? Last week when the side of my face nearly exploded.

Do you think you're cute? Dunno. Don't care.

Were you named after anyone? Well, I don't know about being named after someone, but my patron saint is St Clare of Montefalco, a fairly obscure Italian saint from, I think, the 1400s.

Who are you more like - your mother or your father? Both and yet neither. I see the petulant bits of my sodding mother in me sometimes, but usually I notice before it gets too bad. My rock and roll thing comes a lot from sitting by a record player as a very small child listening to my daddy's Buddy Holly records.

What is your favorite lunch meat? Mortadella.

Any bad habits? I'm sure there's a whole long list, but the problem is I don't consider them to be that bad.

What's in your CD player right now? Thin Lizzy Greatest Hits Disc One, and it's probably on Killer on the Loose.

How do you release anger? Watching Never Mind the Buzzcocks.

Where are your second homes? I don't have any such place. Just one home.

Do you trust others easily? Not really, I don't think. I'm generally pretty suspicious of a lot of stuff.

What class in school did you think was totally useless? All of them at one point or another. I think we really need to look at what we're teaching our children and how. Particularly during Sixth Form, I knew I was learning more by lying in bed watching endless movies than I was in classes.

Do you think that you are strong? Yeah, more or less.

What's your favorite ice cream flavor? Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia. I haven't had any for a long time cos it's got hard to find around here. I've got some Waitrose raspberry sorbet in the freezer waiting for me.

How many people have a crush on you right now? None, I'm sure.

What was the last thing you ate? Packet of crisps and some French raspberry chocolate.

If you were a crayon, what color would you be?
If I were a crayon, I wouldn't care what colour I was, just so long as I was given to a sensitive artist rather than a toddler.

How is the weather right now? No idea. Looks pretty bright.

What do you wear to bed? Purple PJ bottoms and a variety of t-shirts.

What was your favorite toy as a child? Bunnykins, a little rabbit thing I actually acquired at a jumble sale or something. I still have her somewhere. Yellow bunny with a multi-coloured t-shirt dyed onto the fur. Beautiful and fabulous. Still have a great thing for Barbie. She's not sexist, in my opinion- Barbie is exactly who you want her to be. Therefore, while some people's Barbie might be a vacuous tart, mine were mechanics, actresses, single mothers and I think one was a fighter pilot when I nicked some Action Man clothes from my brother.
