Oh, talking to [livejournal.com profile] ladycadey earlier, I realised that Franz Ferdinand have been increasingly on my radar lately.

Now, I've heard of them, because like the Darkness around this time last year, they're being talked about more and more.

But it wasn't until I was sat in Manor Quay with some of the people from my class and a video for them came on that I paid them any heed. I wasn't wearing my glasses, so I couldn't make out the song title, but I could see 'Franz Ferdinand'. Firstly, any band that names itself after an assassinated Hohenzollern that ended up sparking World War I can't totally suck. But anyway, I was sat there, roundly unimpressed with all the music coming up on the big tvs they have in there tuned to music channels. My rock snobbery was either amusing/annoying Simon right up until this Franz Ferdinand song came on. Mad video that amused me (fuzzy though it was) and the bass line really got me. There's also namedropping of TERRY WOGAN, complete with a big poster of him behind them at one point which made both Simon and I piss ourselves laughing. Ended up having to admit it was good and since then I've been on the lookout for them. It didn't help that I didn't know the song title.

Anyway, I was on launch.com looking for videos during my convo with Cadey, and I just found the One. It's called 'The Dark of the Matinee' and has a bass line and a chorus to die for. I'm not saying I'll like all their stuff, but this is notification that I shall from hereon be giving them a chance. Even if they are from Scotland.

That is all. Oh, except that as it's now 5am I think it's best I don't go to bed. I can't really do the waking up at 3.30pm thing again.
