Today didn't really start off in a good way. I left for the town centre later than I should've done due to, well, laziness chiefly. This meant that I had to really rush to get to class in time because I had to come back home to put stuff in the fridge etc.

At this point, I appreciate that my wandering around HMV aimlessly for awhile didn't help matters. I am not apportioning blame at any door but my own.

Anyway, feeling like shite, so I took a Midol in the ten seconds I had between putting stuff in the fridge and leaving again. Sitting in Shorthand, I felt really very spaced out. Now I've been taking Midol since California for what I'm sure are obvious reasons. I've always taken them with Coke because I hate water, and I've often had to take and then run off somewhere. So I don't get why it's made me so spacey today. I mean, my head still feels fuzzy now and I've only taken two in the last fourteen hours. Am worried, frankly, especially in the wake of the Coke drinking chest pain. And I'm not prone to hypochondria. Maybe I'm just one fucked up personality mentally and physically. Who knows? Hell, who cares?

For all you Mummy/Mummy Returns fans, I have to direct you to Hello from Sunny Hamunaptra! by the fabulously talented [livejournal.com profile] logansrogue. It rocks and made me laugh, and I have no praise higher than that. :D

Also, it was not a good idea to go to the Mojo magazine message boards during class today when still not right in the head. I think at one point I shouted 'fucking closed-minded bastards'. Bearing in mind it's basically a site where rock geeks get together to do what they do best: argue incessantly about who is more right than everyone else. Have also been reminded that there are two sorts of people: Those that think Led Zeppelin are the Greatest Thing Ever No Exceptions And Everything They Did Was Perfect and those who think Led Zeppelin belong in the ninth circle of Hell with Judas for being so crap. Me? I'm somewhere between the two, though much much closer to the first group. I don't consider them the greatest band ever, and I certainly don't think everything they did was brilliant. In fact, occasionally they were in the words of one Ninth Circle campaigner 'prententious hippies'. This of course is one of the reasons I love them. I can't help thinking that both sides are kinda missing the point. Ah well. Will leave Mojo boards well alone for my own sanity. Cannot hack that many rock geeks at once- dealing with myself is quite bad enough.

Hello :)

Grr, I hate Mojo magazine, but probably for different reasons to yourself. I don't know, I've never been able to get my head round it. I bought one issue, a few years back, in which they had a feature on the "100 Greatest Songs Ever Written" or something. It was quite a bizarre selection to say the least, and included 'Hit Me Baby One More Time' by Britney Spears. Um ... :P

Anyway, this is quite exciting. And strange! I wander aimlessly around HMV in Sunderland too, almost every day! Who knows, maybe I've even bumped into you in that awkward, ultra-small store at some point. Which Halls are you staying in at Sunderland? Do you know any of the bastards who run the Student Magazine off Media? And what's your favourite Beatles album?

Questions, questions, sorry about that. Ignore me if you wish =P

I love Mojo magazine, but I'm just not fond of the message boards because I find being around so many rock geeks is too much like being around a lot of examples of me! But you see the best thing about Mojo, aside from it concentrating on good stuff as opposed to current stuff, is that it really doesn't take things too seriously and the guys writing it really do care a lot about rock and roll music.

Don't know any magazine (is that called Degrees North or something?) people as far as I know- am a postgrad student. If you've seen a wild-eyed banshee in a long black coat paying more attention to the Thin Lizzy on her walkman than where she's going in HMV, well that's probably me.

Favourite Beatles album? You could ask me to choose between Jim Morrison and Robert Plant and you'd get an easier answer. I couldn't live without any of those albums. Not the early rock and roll of Please Please Me or the proto-psychedelia of Rubber Soul & Revolver or the post-Brian Magical Mystery Tour or the acrimonious and unhappy Let It Be. Not any of them. I don't have a favourite Beatle and I don't have a favourite album because the best, ultimate best, thing about them is all of it, even the stuff that people don't think is as good.

Stay lucky!
