I know it's only rock and roll...
But I'm obsessed with it. For instance, this is what I scrawled on the back of a bit of paper earlier.....
Whenever I see him my heart begins to quicken, usually skipping beats to get in time with the music that always accompanies him. A smile spreads across my face but I don't even notice it. Whenever I hear him, I feel like I am home. It isn't the hair and it isn't the quirky smile. It is not the patented sullen pout. It is not the circulation-defying trousers. It was, is and always will be his voice.
This, I must hasten to add, is not about anyone specific. VH1 Classic should not put The Doors (Riders on the Storm) and Led Zeppelin (The Immigrant Song live) back to back five minutes after a John Lennon video- it induces strange euphoria in me that culminated in a mad, foolish dance around the back room to Whole Lotta Love. I should also know when to switch off my walkman. I should know when to stop listening and go do something normal... like... I don't know. What do normal people do? Borrowing from High Fidelity Rob:
