Mad Movies and other mad stuff.

I saw what is hands-down the weirdest movie I've ever seen, and I've seen some freaky films.

Lisztomania was just insane. Weirder than Tommy which was made by the same bloke (Ken Russell). I say it's weirder than Tommy because although Tommy has the Church of Marilyn Monroe (parish priest: Eric Clapton) and Uncle Ernie and the madness that is the Acid Queen, Tommy does not involve a lengthy dance scene featuring Roger Daltrey with an eight foot erect penis. This is made weirder by the fact that he is a: surrounded by oddly dressed girls who look like they've stepped out of a Benny Hill sketch and also by the fact that he himself is wearing a crinoline at the time. Then he gets castrated with a guillotine.

Then there's Paul Nicholas as Wagner the mad vampire Nazi but I don't like PN so let's move on. The Weirdest Movie Ever title is won, however, by the inspired casting of Richard Starkey MBE as the Pope. You know him as Ringo Starr. Ringo the Pope! Love it, man!

Moving on... got my real life H/Hr shipper pal onto Y!M last night and she registered at FAP. Thanks to Dan, she'll also have an LJ very soon! *rummages around to find fangirl icon*

On the downside, I feel like shite and am missing a second day of work. Murder, She Wrote is on in a minute though, so it's not all bad news.

Also: Apologies to [livejournal.com profile] angiej who had to deal with the rantings of a demented fanfic writer (me) and [livejournal.com profile] anneu53714 who had to deal with my post Lisztomania ramblings which were odd, to say the least.

Ringo as the Pope? Yeah, that is weird. I'm still laughing.

Sounds like a movie my father would enjoy.

I so want to see this movie.

Ah, it really was great. Weirder than Tommy but less dark. And at least Roger Daltrey got to see, speak and hear.

Have been downloading Liszt music all day- it's actually really quite fab!

Can I find this at my local video store?

No idea. I can't find it at Amazon or Blackstar so rental is probably the only option. Depends how big your local video place i!

I saw it on Sky Cinema last night. Next time it's on I'm so taping it!

Been there, heard that, wondered why it took you so long to write about it here :-) I was just excited that I got to tell YOU about that little detail about Thames Ditton, Surrey. Will attempt to include that in chapter 2 when I return to writing on Friday night (too many things to do before then... don't ask). Feel better soon, mate! Hugs, Anne
