Music meme and other Assorted Trivial Stuff

logansrogue although I know lots of other people have done it too...
DISCLAIMER: This is by no means a comprehensive list. It does not include everything I love, nor does it entirely reflect how much I love some things. There may be things missing that I cannot live without. This is because I am very tired, it is three am and it is, after all, just an LJ meme.
Ten albums you own
Only ten? Damn, this is gonna be hard work.
- Rubber Soul by the Beatles
- How The West Was Won by Led Zeppelin (it's live, baby!)
- Italian Love Songs/Cha Cha Cha De Amor by Dean Martin
- Jailbreak by Thin Lizzy
- Come By Me- Harry Connick, Jr.
- Songs for Only the Lonely by Frank Sinatra
- Station To Station by David Bowie
- Sticky Fingers by the Rolling Stones
- Disraeli Gears by Cream
- A Night at the Opera by Queen
Nine bands you've seen live
- Harry Connick, Jr., 13th March 2000 at the Royal Albert Hall.
- Suzi Quatro in Hunstanton, Norwich when I was a little girl.
- I should've been to the George Harrison Tribute but I was kept on hold- the bastards.
- I should've been to Paul McCartney at Liverpool but bastard council workers nabbed all the tickets before they went on sale.
- I'm off to see Robbie Bastard Williams this Friday at Knebworth. It's only as a favour to my friend Rachel and I'm taking my walkman.
- I haven't seen much live music- I have no money and most of the people I like aren't in a position to play live (they're either dead or defunct). Hope to see Bowie soon though. For a music fan I'm pretty shite with the live stuff, huh?
Eight songs you'd die without
ONLY EIGHT? *faints at prospect*
- That's The Way by Led Zeppelin
- Black Rose: A Rock Legend by Thin Lizzy
- The End by the Doors
- Layla by Derek and the Dominoes (OR: the unplugged version by Eric)
- Ain't that A Kick in the Head by Dean Martin (OR: Volare or On An Evening In Roma. Please don't make me choose)
- Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen
- Golden Years by David Bowie
- American Pie by Don McLean
Seven of your favorite lines in songs
Buckle up, we're in for a bumpy ride...
- "Some people sing about Deutscher Girls and girls from California/Well they might be all right for a night all right but don't say I didn't warn ya/I've been to the east and I've been out west and I've been all the world around/And I ain't seen none come near the girls from London Town..." London Girls by Chas n Dave. OK, so that was more like an entire verse. Sue me why dontcha?
- "Summer, Buddy Holly, the working folly, Good Golly Miss Molly and boats/Hammersmith Palais, the Bolshoi Ballet, jump back in the alley and nanny goats....." Reasons to be Cheerful, Part 3 by Ian Dury.
- "Everybody loves you when you're six feet in the ground." Nobody Loves You (When You're Down and Out) by John Lennon.
- "And if you listen very hard, the tune will come to you at last." Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin. Come on, you knew that was going to be here somewhere, right?
- "I see you live on Love Street/There's this store where the creatures meet/I wonder what they do in there/Summer, Sunday and a Year/I guess I like it fine, so far." Love Street, The Doors.
- "I can't deny/That to both I am true/Two loves have I/Both of them are you." Two Loves Have I by Dean Martin
- "Hills of forest green where the mountains touch the sky/A dream come true, I'll live there till I die/I'm asking you to say my last goodbye/The love we knew ain't worth another try." Castles in the Air by Don McLean.
Six albums you wished you owned
Don't I already own all the music in the world?
- Lodger by David Bowie
- Sleep Warm by Dean Martin
- Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out by the Rolling Stones
- Basically most of Queen's back catalogue- they're always full-price!
- Raw Power by The Stooges
- Astral Weeks by Van Morrison.
Five songs that make you sad
- Watching the Wheels by John Lennon
- Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen
- Is That All There Is? by Peggy Lee
- Just Say I Love Her/Return to Me by Dean Martin
- Paint It, Black by The Rolling Stones
Honourable mention to 'It's Over' by Roy Orbison.
Four songs that make you happy
- Golden Years by David Bowie
- I'm Happy Just to Dance With You by the Beatles
- Bangers and Mash by Peter Sellers
- Volare by Dean Martin (see also Sam's Song and anything else by Dean)
Three bands/songs you are embarassed to say you like
- The entire Labyrinth soundtrack. It's much too 80s.
- The Push Bike Song by the Mixtures. It's so darn cheerful and catchy, man.
- Jason Donovan. Well, not so much anymore, but I loved him when I was a kid and still have a soft spot for him.
Two voices you'd die without
Only two? You utter bastards.
- Dean Martin. I think I would quite literally die without Dino.
- Jim Morrison. I don't write ten thousand words about just anybody you know.
Honourable Mentions to John Lennon, George Harrison, Sammy Davis, Harry Connick, Jr., Sinatra, Dylan, Bowie, Phil Lynott and of course Robert Plant. My one weakness, it seems is the male voice. Also Judy Garland, Peggy Lee and Julie London on the side of the girls.
One band you thank god for
The Beatles. Ultimately, there's no question. It might be a cliche and it might be that everyone else chose them too. But fuck me, there's a reason for that. The Beatles saved my life and I love them, ultimately above all others. Led Zeppelin who?
You would not believe how long this took me. I define myself by the music I love and I think I may have sweated blood to do this. Oh, and if you're reading: Robert Plant, stay out of my bloody dreams!
