It's One Year, baby!
Yes indeed... it is in fact one year ago today that I registered at FAP.
In that year I have made 211 posts, which isn't many compared to a lot of people, but I like to think that mine favour quality over quantity ;).
In that year I have made some fantastic friends, many quite recently. A year ago when I read TiP and LIAB, I didn't ever think that lowly Clare could possibly have a conversation with these lofty, fabulous authors. What I didn't realise that, when we get beyond the crap, this is a genuinely very friendly fandom. I spent well over a year in the Buffy fandom and didn't make half as many pals as I already have. For example, I have discovered that although Eb may be a little older than me, a teacher in Detroit and has seemingly nothing in common with me, we share a love of H/Hr and Labyrinth and a bunch of other things. I don't seem to have much in common with Dan, an Australian computer dude either, but that was wrong too. I love that fandom, while it sometimes is simply a microcosm of the real, ugly world, it also blows everyone's perceptions out of the water. My RL friends may look at me oddly when I tell them that I was chatting to a Canadian chick called Nightfall the night before, but the fact is, I love you all. You are all fabulous people and I am so very glad that I chose to register a year ago. It took me another month to finally get my head around FAP and forums and all that stuff, but I was here a year ago as soon as I saw the PS movie on DVD in California. I waded right into fandom and baby, I loved it!
In the last year I have: returned from California, written a dissertation, finished my last year of university, written a 12 chapter Schnoogle fic, written four AT fics, set up a Y!Group with Dan, Ash and Brian, written a bunch of other little ficlets, mostly H/Hr. I have also written very a very brief H/G, an H/G(eorge) to wind everyone up, a parody Mary-Sue and a ton of other stuff. I've also read so much fantastic stuff that I can't even begin to name them all.
To think, 365 days ago I couldn't drink where I was living, I only owned one Led Zeppelin CD (Led Zep IV, obviously), I was as tanned as I get, struggling with my old, shite computer and wondering what to do with myself because I clearly didn't care about Buffy or her fandom anymore.
So, because it's a good as time as any- I thank you all. First for making a newbie so welcome a year ago and secondly for being just so fab since.
Loff you all.
I will just say this- it's just as well I'm an insomniac or I'd never get through chat. Ten to seven this morning I finished! You're all evil and will drive me insane. So I'll see you next week for GoF chat. :D

I'm not too bothered about post numbers or anything. I'd rather post something interesting or not post at all, y'know?
Stay lucky,
Clare

Happy Fandom Anniversary! I agree this fandom is quite wonderful in lots of ways, even though it gets a bit crazy at times.
I friended you, hope you don't mind. Please let me know if you would prefer me not to. I am mostly a lurking H/H shipper who likes reading LJ a lot.
Ken :)
