The Horror!

I actually lost my walkman yesterday. Anyone who knows me will understand the ramifications this has for me. I didn't realise until this morning however, because I'd had no call to use it last night (i don't listen to it when walking with people, like i was yesterday. Not good form to do it). Walked to university in the midst of what was in danger of becoming a panic attack.

I just don't go anywhere without it unless I'm with someone. I just don't do it. I walk to the little shop a minute away with it, regardless of the fact I walk, shop, buy and walk back in less than one song. I just cannot live without being plugged in. You may think this is sad or a little pathetic or whatever Non Rock People think. But you see, that's what music means to me- I have to have it with me all the time. It has the power to absolutely change my mood or outlook on life. I need to have Philip Lynott/Jim/Zep/Beats with me as a way to keep me connected to the world, although you might argue it does the opposite.

On the way to university today I could hear the wind, I could hear voices, I could hear cars and buses and the sound of my own footsteps. You might think this is a good thing- I do not. It is most disconcerting to me.

Went and asked in the library, figuring I'd left it in the canteen .Someone had handed it in. There is an honest soul drifting around Sunderland, and they have my undying thanks, not least because the disc inside was my new and quite hard to find Vagabonds of the Western World by Thin Lizzy.

I am truly in love with 'Slow Blues' off that particular record. I love it, I love it, I love it. Ich liebe Slow Blues. J'adore Slow Blues. Or whatever.
