Well, the great ship chat was well, great. Had lots of fun although it was my first actual all nighter in a while. Will have lots of them next term- just found out how much work (including my dissertation) i'll have next term. Why the bloody hell didn't they spread some of the work out into this term? I've only had one stupid essay this term. Next term I have two for each class. Gits.

I've been watching the UK Snooker championships on BBC 2 and I've come to the conclusion that I'm bad luck for those i'm rooting for. When I finally got to see the World Series on TV last year, my beloved Yankees lost. The games they won were ones I didn't get to see. Tottenham Hotspur lose every game I catch (although we're not that great to be fair) except for today when we won 2-1 against... West Brom. Not exactly Man U, are they? And then the few frames of Ronnie O'Sullivan's snooker game against a bloke called Gunnell that I saw he did pretty poorly. I mean, poorly for Ronnie the Rocket, the most naturally gifted snooker player in a good long while. Even if he is from Essex.... I'm beginning to yammer now.

I FINALLY came up with a ficlet this evening after ages of being able to write absolutely nitto. I hate writer's block. It wasn't even writer's block but more like coming up with really terrible ideas and being able to do nitto with them. Nitto. I love that word!

My best friend is coming to Lancaster to visit on Thursday! Hurrah! Haven't seen him since August because the lucky git ended up going to Morocco AND Aiya Napa. Jammy git. Of course, I'm going home on Friday so it'll be a short visit (he has other friends up here fortunately) until we're both back at home and then hurrah! *bounces excitedly*.

Stay lucky!

Bah Humbug!

Not a popular view usually at this time of year, but bah bloody humbug. I've just spent hours in the Siberian climate of Lancaster trying to find everyone Christmas presents. And being that I'm not a Vanderbilt or some other monied sort, I have to find cheap stuff. Right. That would be why I managed to spend £100 in HMV alone. AND it's my brother's birthday on Saturday so I spent another fifty in a music shop getting him guitar stuff.

And.... I'm freezing cold and tired and I've just found out that the Russell Watson CD I was sure my mother would like (fussy old bird that she is) has also been purchased by my brother. Do you know how much of my musical dignity I had to surrender to buy that piece of populist shite? He's even done a cover of a Dean Martin song- the mere idea of which makes my blood pressure soar. And Michael's already bought it! I bet my dad bought it and gave it to little Mikey to give to his mummy. Got my grandad Frank Sinatra's Classic Duets (Finally, a member of my family with taste). Got my dad some DVDs (Zulu, The Italian Job and The Magnificent Seven, all excellent) only to find out that my mum decided to wait to buy a bloody player of DVDs until the new year. Hmmm... I sense a slight hitch there. I think their new computer will play them.

I've just got to that point in the term where I just want to go home. I've run out of food but there's no point going shopping, all my clothes need washing (will do that tomorrow) and I've seen all my videos a million times. But, I did just watch The Italian Job on DVD. :D.

On the plus side, I did cook myself Parma ham (fried in butter, v. nice) with salad and Irish soda bread also done in the same butter. SOOO nice and possibly the first proper meal I've bothered doing since getting here. Just as well I don't really care if it's fatty or has stuff in it that will block my arteries. Put you right off your dinner will talk like that.

AND! I posted a ficlet over at FAP's cookie jar last night in the H/H thread. It's mostly inspired by all the ideas thrown at me during the big chat, and everyone really seems to like it! I wasn't really sure of it but everyone liked it so far. Hurrah me!

And now, I must brave the cold winds and artic conditions (I'm only exaggerating a bit) and go help my friends wrap crimbo prezzies.

Stay lucky!

PS. Once my hands have stopped seizing up, I'll be right back in the Happy Crimbo spirit, don't you worry!
