And so this was Christmas
Monday, 3 January 2005 18:10I'm fully aware that I haven't said anything of substance for some days. In fact, I'm of the opinion I haven't said anything of substance for weeks/months, but that may just be me.
Had OK Crimbo, considering there were shouting matches at times. Had OK Crimbo with decent presents, which was nice cos I wasn't really expecting anything. Got an MP3 player. Made by a company from Irvine, which amused me for thirty seconds or so. Haven't yet set it up. I don't like these things much. I like being able to hold my music in my hands. I suppose I'm one of those people who doesn't find it strange to have an affection for the smell of vinyl or shellac.
New Year was split between chatting on computer to some people including
angiej and
eibbil_libbie which was nice, and watching Pirates of the Caribbean with Grandad, Mammy and Daddy. Which was weird. Not bad, but weird. As usual, I aimed to do as little as humanly possible for the moment of New Year, and sat watching Jools' Hootenanny waiting for Franz Ferdinand's next bit was about as much as I was willing to do.
Back to work tomorrow. Not looking forward to it. Haven't done any of the musical stuff I wanted to do with my brother because he's either been with his girlfriend or complaining and moping cos she went to the Canary Islands for Christmas. Thanks v. much Michel, appreciate it.
Off to see National Treasure with my friend Louise later this evening.
Have joined an RPG. Waiting to see how it goes, so far it's been fun.
I think I'm back in my depressed little funk where I complain that nothing good happens to me, but where I find it impossible to even consider doing anything.
Saw West Side Story on TV earlier. Natalie Wood never did bother to learn to act, did she? Was unimpressed until the end which wasn't bad.
Oh, and I wrote a fic for the Pumpkin Pie.Org New Year Fest thing. You can find it here. If you want to, that is.

Date: 2005-01-04 13:47 (UTC)But yay for MP3 player! Mix and match, hon, mix and match. I've got the most kick ass playlist on mine right now - everything from Green Day's American Idiot to Heart's Magic Man. But I don't find your love of vinyl weird! I love the smell of it too. It's very... nostalgic, I guess. You can just imagine the records being played over and over by their previous owners, being listened to in those big-assed headphones people used to have. I can readily imagine several year's worth of teenage angst being played out in Led Zep tunes on the stereo.
*smites bro* Does that help? :D Sorry you didn't get to do any music stuff (that sucks) but if you need them, I can probably get about five drummers together - just from work! :)) I swear, in the past two weeks, I've met about five guys who are drummers. Of course, this is Nashville, we're talking about, so musicians are a dime a dozen here. Hope you get to work on your music soon!
Much with the loff! <3
