I'm home. Have been since Saturday afternoon. It doesn't currently resemble my house (or any house for that matter). Despite the fact that the work on our house started two months ago, it's still going. As far as I can see, there aren't any holes left in any of the walls, but the only room upstairs that has carpet in it is this one- the small bedroom which is our computer room. It has nice new carpet in a sort of cream colour that is so spring and new I can't get the wheels on the computer chair to move.

There's dust everywhere.

My room has been painted and has new light switches and sockets, and a fab new lightshade. One of the walls is a really cool dark purple metallic shade and the others are a lighter purple approaching lilac (not my choice, but one must compromise with my mama). Except that my bed is in the middle of the room, there's bare floorboards, my desk is in there but in the middle and piled up with crap that ain't mine. Two bits of my ikea unit are also there, detatched from the rest of it (part of which is in the garage- broken). Until this morning, i couldn't even get into my wardrobe... and all the stuff in there is dusty anyway.

All my stuff is in boxes, whether it came down from Sunderland with me or not. I am powerless to do anything. And I can't really do anything about it until my carpet is down and my fucking furniture is back in the room it belongs in. Which isn't until Wednesday because the carpet dude is coming tues/weds and is doing my brother's room and the landing first. I don't know much about the carpet trade, but does it take an entire day to do two carpets?

I feel bad for my mum and dad who've been living in this for two months, but I wish that fucking woman would SHUT UP. She's been bitching at me to 'de-junk' since she turned up in Sunderland. She's been saying it for years. SHUT THE FUCK UP! SHUT UP! It's not my fault all my stuff is in boxes in the back room. You think I LIKE it that way? I'll get rid of all my books and CDs and videos the moment she gets rid of all HER crap! For all her 'de-junk, de-junk, de-junk' preaching, I've hardly seen HER do the same! Does she expect me and my dad to give up all our records while she keeps her shitty Maeve Binchy/Catherine Cookson/Bollocky-Give-Women-Writers-A-Bad-Name books? Or all the clothes she never wears? Or the paperwork she never sorts but has a go at my dad for moving around?

I don't mind getting rid of stuff I don't want/need anymore... but I'm not getting rid of stuff I DO want just for her fucking 'de-junk' philosophy.
