The Big Read and The Zep.
Saturday, 25 October 2003 22:02OK, so I'm watching The Big Read, half listening to Meera Syal go on about Pride and Prejudice, nip into the shower, come back out and think 'I know this song!'.
The segment on His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman is musically illustrated by a few choice classical pieces for ambience... and Page and Plant. Seriously, I get out of the shower to 'Thank You' which is a particularly pretty song from Led Zeppelin II and the others are all off Walking to Clarksdale which I don't have but can place by how low Robert Plant's voice is. It was weird, but the more people who hear my boys the better.
Oh. My. God. The segment is coming to an end and we're getting Stairway to wrap up. I have to read this book if only for the BBC's choice of music to go with it. Led Zeppelin on BBC on a Saturday night with a book the bloody Catholic Herald condemned. I love my life.
