apolla | A birthday and an anniversary.

I was going to write a long, thoughtful post about today, it being both the 60th birthday of Jim Morrison and the 23rd anniversary of the murder of John Lennon. Yet I find myself only repeating what I have said many times before. So I will simply say this:

Happy Birthday Jim. I'm sure it's nice to know you've been dead six years longer than you were alive, although in my opinion it would've been nice to see what you could've achieved by your sixtieth birthday, even if you weren't some teen rebel without a case poster boy. For all your (many) faults I love you, my hero.

To John, you are my hero. You were the man who gave me inspiration and hope when I felt like I had little of either. You made me realise that people can change and try to be good, try to be peaceful. You made me realise that humanity isn't quite as horrible as we usually think it is. I'd love to know what you could've achieved in the last twenty-three years that were taken away from you. I love you, my hero.

And what, apart from that, can I really say? Love is all you need.
