The Interview of the Year...
Wednesday, 30 July 2003 04:05Asking the questions:
1. Who do you consider the best actor (male or female) of this generation?
Hmmm... Probably Leonardo DiCaprio, actually. He certainly was before Titanic ruined him and his ego. Gangs of New York and Catch Me if you Can were good returns to form. Brad Pitt is much improved since the Interview with a Vampire days. Russell Crowe lacks the genuine sensitivity and ability to subsume himself to become a truly great actor and the same goes for Colin Farrell. That said, there's a whole bunch of young men and women coming up through the ranks who could well be great one day. They just need to realise/remember that acting should always rate above stardom.
Oh, I'll probably think of someone better later and think 'doh!'
2. What do you consider the best movie script of all time? (Need not necessarily be a great movie - just the writing)
Hmm... a shite movie can have a good script, but a good movie can't have a shite script. I think generally... Casablanca is a great script because it's snappy, to the point, well-structured with truly fantastic characters and was written as they went along. An odd process gave birth to a great piece of writing. Also the script of anything funny by Billy Wilder (not including the Seven Year Itch). I think Titanic is probably one of the worst scripts I've ever read.
3. What is your guiltiest musical pleasure that you really should be embarrassed about possessing?
I don't have anything embarrassing! Everything I listen to is fantastic. OK, that's a lie. I own a few shite cds that I don't seem able to get rid of but don't listen to (Grease 2 OST, Abba Gold). The closest thing to 'embarrassing' in that I know I shouldn't like it is probably the three Duran Duran songs I downloaded randomly and still listen to occasionally (Wild Boys, Girls on Film and Planet Earth). But because i like all the music I listen to I don't think it is embarrassing because I'm always right about music- if I like it, it must be good. Right?
4. What HP storyline not involving the Trio would you like to see occur?
Sirius returning from the dead. Seriously... I would love to see more of the Marauders era stuff, even if it's just in pensieves. I want so badly to know what Lily is like and what made her fall in love (eventually) with Arrogant!James. I want to know what made him less Arrogant!James and more Mythic Hero!James. I want to know about Hermione's life outside school. I want to know everyone's birthdays. I want to know everything about Sirius there is to know. I want to know what the big cosmic Point of the whole thing is. Am I even answering the question? The storyline I'd like to see most is one I read on FAP earlier: Neville is actually Godric Gryffindor's heir which makes Harry question his own destiny and whether he's really the one to face Voldemort. I like that idea.
5. Do you know what "grits" are and would you be willing to eat them?
Isn't it weird corn stuff or something (most weird American food was corn once upon a processing plant)? I would give them a go, sure as long as cheese isn't in any part of the process!
Do you want to be interviewed with some bizzare questions by Elise? Then you must:
1 -- Leave a comment, saying you want to be interviewed.
2 -- I will respond; I'll ask you five questions.
3 -- You'll update your journal with my five questions, and your five answers.
4 -- You'll include this explanation.
5 -- You'll ask other people five questions when they want to be interviewed.

2. OK, so you think Ewan's the best actor of our generation, but who is your favourite?
3. Stealing from Elise: What HP storyline not involving the Trio would you like to see occur?
4. Of all the ships in all the Harry Potter world, which squicks you the most and why?
5. If you had to be locked in a room for 72 hours with only one other person, who would you choose and why? Who is the person you'd least like to spend locked in a room with and why?
