I was forced from my nice warm bed and nice warm slumber by the fire alarm. Before 10am on a SUNDAY. Before 10am on a Sunday when I only arrived in the Land of Nod sometime around 5.30am.

In this particular building the fire alarm is not a nice loud bell but a horrible kind of buzzing sound that makes you want to rip your ears off. I stumbled around for a minute to throw some clothes over my PJs, find me shoes and keys... only to find that I was still the first person out. Do these people not understand the concept of a fire alarm? Admittedly, there was no smoke in the hallways or anything, but still! Some people emerged well after me. Are they so comfortable in arrogance and immortality that it wouldn't matter?

It became clear that it wasn't even a drill when the security guard turned up. Of course, he was late because he didn't have a swipe card and had to climb over the back wall. Thank God I've never had an emergency requiring their swift attention. Anyway, a fire engine turned up pretty soon (I'd guess within five minutes, which sounds impressively quick to me) and they tramped up into our block... and came down about thirty seconds later. Someone in a room the floor below me had been using a hairdryer and somehow managed to set the fire alarm off. HOW?!?!

So we were allowed to trample back up to our rooms, the alarm still going and finally, just as I collapsed back into my bed (still a bit warm) it went off. Thanks to this evil event, I missed my 14.30 alarm and didn't get out of bed until two hours later. I don't mind getting up after 4pm, but I'd only just got sorted again after last week's not-sleeping-at-all and I do have early classes during the week. If this has totally fucked my sleep up I will destroy things.

On a happy note, Harry Connick, Jr was on Parkinson last night and aside from doing a very cool rendition of 'For Once In My Life' was v. funny. And it was worth seeing if only to hear Patrick Stewart's real accent (he's got a real broad Yorkshire accent, removed only by years of elocution and drama classes). When Lionel Richie came on though, I switched over to The World Is Not Enough. It also occurs to me that although I have, over the years seen all the James Bond movies (not always in their entirety, but my brother was a real Bond fan when he was a little boy, and they're always on during holidays) except Goldeneye. This shouldn't bug me cos while I like Bond well enough, it's not the be all and end all, but I want to know what happens now. May rent from Blockbuster tomorrow. Yes. Hmm. Good idea.

Have a couple of HPDDD Ginny/Draco ficlets I might post later, as well.

Interesting.

I did not know that too much honey in tea could make one vomitous. Fuckity bollocks.

ETA: Just spoke to my dad on the phone. He said I should've used a max. 2 small teaspoons. I lost count after four. He laughed at me. Git.

While trying to sort out the chaos of my hotmail inbox I found this and decided to share. It's old and I'm sure you've all seen it before, but it's still funny:
