Words cannot fully express how much I love Pirates of the Caribbean.

Words cannot begin to express my deep and abiding love for Captain Jack Sparrow. It is like someone sat down and combined my beloved, darling Errol Flynn with my favourite bunch of rock stars. How is anyone supposed to be resist that, even someone of my own stony heart?

DVD features are also v. cool, esp. the selected commentary by the wicked funny Jack Davenport and sometimes as funny Keira Knightley. It was only marred by her incessant mention in nearly every shot where it was filmed. It was a bit "This is in LA. This is the Caribbean. This is in LA. This was in a tank in LA. This was my stunt double in the Caribbean. That's me in LA..." and so on. But other than that, excellent. Deleted scenes also v. cool but I can understand why almost all of them were cut from the finished article.

In short: I love this film. I love it so much. I think, having now seen it three times, that there are places that it drags, but the rest makes up for it.

If I were in Keira Knightley's corset, however, I would be insane with anger at Johnny Depp's effortless and constant upstaging. Fortunately I am not in Keira Knightley's corset and so simply love it.

One last thing: WHY IS THE RUM GONE?

Few small items:

1. I love Pirates of the Caribbean. I love Captain Jack Sparrow. You already know this.

2. The new hotmail layout positively sucks. I don't like having to scroll all the way back from the bottom of the page to the top to hit delete. Would it've killed them to leave the bar at the bottom? I'm just not liking it, but then I wasn't fond of the previous one when it first got implemented. Maybe it's just a getting used to it thing.

3. Media In Society sucks. I mean, it's nothing I don't already know or isn't the Bleeding Obvious. Tonight's Racist Discourse topic was a real low point and the lecturer is one who insists on cloaking everything in unnecessary academic language like 'discourse' (her favourite fucking word) and 'dysphemisms' and 'parallelism', none of which lent anything to the lecture, least of all the image of intellectualism she was aiming for. Sometimes it really is most effective to call a spade a fucking spade.

4. That said, I did get a couple of pages of HP IAI (the sequel that wouldn't die) written and it's stuff to go near the beginning so I'm getting ever closer to posting something!

5. I also got part of an original story written, although it being set in a fictional kingdom in a fictional region of the world that bears a great resemblance to western Europe doesn't really help. And all the names sound made up. *sigh*

6. I still haven't bought or posted any Christmas cards, so if you want one, it's not too late! Email me if you'd like a Clare Card this Crimbo. :D
