Oh dear God, the last couple of days have been insane. Never, ever let me think going all the way to Newcastle Upon Tyne and back in the same days is Good Idea, at least not on the train.

Let me start from the beginning.... On Tuesday a train was derailed at Kings Cross. Nobody was hurt because it was pulling out of the station at 10mph and the driver saw the problem in time (ish). The problem? Someone forgot to put a rail back after some maintenance. Now, I can understand forgetting screws or something, but an entire rail? Anyway, this has put half the KC platforms out of action and so my train on Weds was likely to be delayed and such. So it was already something of a hassle to get to Newcastle, but get there we did and only 1/2 hour late, which is something. Got on the Metro which was quite cool- a lot of it is pretty new.

Sunderland is a pretty cool place IMO. It has a rep down here in the South as a run-down, derelict shitehole, but I liked it- they're working hard to regenerate it and it shows. The chick who showed us around (a personal tour, man) was so nice. My only complaint is that the building I'll be living in isn't actually quayside... but I'm sure I'll live! Also, coinkydink of coinkydinks, John & Natasha were visiting his mum a few miles away so I got to have dinner with them!! *bounces*

Didn't get to see inside a room where I'll be living but got to see inside the undergrad halls- quite nice. Where I am is next door to the convenience store, which next door to the Bonded Warehouse club. I'm not usually too bothered about such things, but they're having a Ceildh at some point soon, so that's me set!!

What else... I had a drink at The Pumpkin Cafe *bounces* at Newcastle Station (Diet Coke of course). Oh, and I can't remember what station it was at, but as the train to Newcastle went along we stopped somewhere that had a cafe called The Lemon Tree. This means absolutely nothing important except that I was listening to Led Zeppelin at the time (like that's a surprise) and my mind went down a particular route. Call me insane, I don't care. Started snickering to myself and my mum asked what was so funny. Did not feel like having any such convo so I said I was reading something funny. Am an effortless liar apparently.

Didn't go to work yesterday because I was so utterly tired after Wednesday's trip to the North East. I slept for like, 16 hours and even missed Murder, She Wrote! My beloved daddy taped it for me though so I could watch it when not comatose. Then I spent about three hours watching VH1 Classic last night while waiting for the computer (didn't get on, Mikey gave excuse that he was copying all his stuff for university) and there were two Zep videos (If anyone cares, Black Dog and In My Time of Dying, the latter of which rocked my socks off), a bunch of John Lennon stuff and various other Very Cool things which made me bounce around the front room like a particularly tired loon.

My brother is off to university tomorrow. This would be less news if it weren't nearly 1am and he's not home yet. He's really fucked my dad off now. On Monday he said he was having a farewell dinner with Vicky, which he did... except that she was then round our house on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday as well. He's leaving tomorrow before 8am and he's not home yet. He has not had the courtesy to call my dad or anything and I'd put money on him not being finished with the packing parts of life. Sometimes I really wonder what planet that boy is on. My dad even drove around town looking- tons of police around apparently and now he's worried although saying he doesn't care, that he's had it with Michael. He hasn't had it and he is worrying and this makes me angry with Michael because my dad isn't very well and Michael always, always, always does shite like this. I wouldn't even call him unthoughtful- he's just totally thoughtless. Sigh. Le Fucking Sigh.

On the bright side: I should be going to see my grandad tomorrow and hopefully we're actually gonna see PotC on Sunday, althoguh I wouldn't like to bet actual cash money on it. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Love to you all.

Have spent ages trying to make icons with the assistance of [livejournal.com profile] gryffinseye. You can find them here:
Iconage of Legend

I now want us to all switch to GJ so I can use them all. I cannot believe it's taken me until now to think that those small square ready-made pieces of art we call album covers might make good icons.

One last thing: saw the TV advert for David Bowie's new album. The man ROCKS my WORLD. Anyone who can poke that much fun at himself as he does deserves our eternal respect and admiration. He is One Cool Bloke. I don't know if you can find it on the net at all, but it's for the new album called Reality and basically he's getting ready to go out and as he walks through his house to get out, he passes himself in his many incarnations. Basically, Present Day Dave has dressed up as himself. It is so weird to see a 56 yr old Aladdin Sane and a 56 yr old Diamond Dog! But all hail DB for doing it and giving me a damn good laugh earlier. *hails Bowie*
