OK....... Madam Tussaud's with [livejournal.com profile] marquiserachel rocked, even if Madonna looked more like Uma Thurman, even if the Beatles are only discernible by what instruments they're holding, even if it cost twenty quid to get in and a further ten for a crappy disposable camera with 27 exposures... I happen to know they've almost doubled the price, the bastards. Also: Elizabeth Taylor's dummy still has filthy breasts. They're very prominent in what she's dressed in and it's hard to ignore. The Chamber of Horrors is a bit crap because I really don't care what Dr. Crippen and The Brides in the Bath Murderer look like. Rock Circus is closed down now, and I want to know where Freddie Mercury and Ziggy Stardust etc... are. Apparently Brad Pitt's arse is squeezable. I did not try to find out. George W. Bush's waxwork actually tested higher than he did in an IQ test... Tony Blair looks suitably smarmy and tosser-ish.

Anyway, after MT we went to Picadilly Circus to eat (Pizza Hut, not at all bad) and to HMV, who did not have the Rolling Stones t-shirt I desire so badly. They did, however, have TTT, The Land Girls (which is worse than I remembered it) and Empire magazine. Regent Street was also quite cool and Hamley's continues to rock, even if they mark up some Barbie dolls over a fiver more than Argos do. Bought a Teresa doll and a dark haired Barbie. Tried to forget I'm 21 and about to embark (hopefully) on post-graduate education. Realised I don't give a shit that most of my friends got rid of their Barbies over 10 years ago. Also: nearly broke an 8-foot lego model of Darth Vader playing about with an Anakin Skywalker toy lightsabre. There's probably irony there.... Needless to say I was encouraged by my Lesser Demons and Rachel to put the sabre down very quickly.

After saying goodbye to Rachel I headed to my grandad's. Or tried. On the weekend, London Transport do a lot of engineering work that they can't do in the week. I don't mind that they closed down the quickest way to Baker Street from King's Cross- I got over that. But when I get on the Northern Line at Euston only to be told that Moorgate station is closed because of 'fire checks' I get really fucked off. Had the other bit not been closed, I coulda still got to my grandad, but the Northern line to Moorgate was the only option open. Admittedly, I could've gone to the next station (Old Street) and walked but it was already 7pm by then. So I got off at King's Cross, found out the time of the next train home (From Platform 10a!) and called my grandad to say that I wasn't gonna make it to him. I was exceedingly pissed off about it. He is the only grandparent I have left and I am his only granddaughter. I don't get to see him all that often and to be thwarted by London Fucking Transport is too much. If they'd have consistently invested in the Tube over the last decades, they wouldn't have to close down huge tracts of it every weekend. Grrrrr.

Anyway, got home absolutely knackered. Didn't go to sleep. Instead I watched The Land Girls and then, instead of going to sleep, watched all of The Two Towers. Was exhauseted and didn't wake up until about 3pm this afternoon.

A few brief TTT thoughts:

1. Eowyn doesn't suck too badly. In fact, were it not for the heavyhanded stuff with Aragorn I'd think she was pretty right-on. But there is the Aragorn crap and it makes her look foolish and simpering IMO.

2. The effects when the big dog thing drags Aragorn off the cliff thing suck.

3. The battle is amazing, really it is.

4. Legolas' famous shield/skateboard thing is just fabulous. I love the fact that he's still firing off arrows all the while, but what really crowns it for me is, after all that, he even manages to kill an Uruk-Hai thing with said shield. Legolas, Errol Flynn would be proud of you. It's just so reminiscent to me of something Flynn would've done in Robin Hood or something that it makes me want to giggle a lot. Flynn woulda done it best though...

5. Now cannot wait for Return of the King.
