Today was, all in all, a good day. Granted, I didn't get to sleep until six and had to be up at 11:30. But when one considers that I was up so early (in Clare terms at least) so I could go see my best friend, I don't mind so much.

We sat in Costa Coffee for a good hour and a half just talking and stuff... He presented me with a birthday card and I got him a gorrila-shaped Easter egg. Was very amusing... It was just fabulous to sit and talk with my best pal and I realised that although we don't see each other very often anymore and we're not the inseparable pair we were ten years ago, none of that matters so much if we make the effort like we did today. At Oxford he might be, best pals with the granddaughter of a former prime minister he may be, but he's still Rich, the little boy who has been my best friend since I was six years old.

Owing to a few things, I don't have anyone I've known all my life, I don't really have anyone who's been there for the whole mad 21 years, but Rich is the closest I do have. I know it amuses my mum and dad to see this very tall young man with a pierced tongue turn up on their doorstep when they remember him as a little ten year old kid.

And finally, stuff has happened up in Lancaster to put a great big smile on my other best pal's face. So, being that I care far more about their welfare than my own, I'm a very happy bunny.

The next generation HP DDD verse ficlet I was writing has turned into an absolute behemoth of a thing.

But I'm still not doing my dissertation. Most worryingly, I'm not especially worried about this. Should be, but ain't. Ah well.

G'night all!
