I'm multi-tasking at the moment: writing, watching Casablanca, listening to Nat King Cole and reading. Never let it be said that I can't do more than one thing at a time!

Anyway, I'm in agreement with Dan about the state of the Ship at the moment, at least. Perhaps it's just lack of any new canon to be going on with, but aside from the recycling of questions, the questions also seem to be getting more... vacuous, I suppose. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but the thing I loved most when I arrived in HP fanon was the way that people (esp. us H/Hrs! :D) cared so much that they really discussed stuff. It wasn't like over at the Buffy/Angel corner of the Net where it never got too much deeper than discussing Angel's leather trousers. But now... I can't really answer 'What will the proposal/engagement be like' many more times. For a start, most people seem to agree that the PoU scene by Lori was one of the best. And I really don't care what pets Harry and Hermione might one day have. It's not what I thought the ship was about. But if the other shippers enjoy it, who am I to complain?

Rant over now. Just had to get that out. It's over now. I've managed to stop bouncing after seeing CoS last Friday, although my darling daddy's trying to get tickets for when I go home at the weekend! He really liked PS and is a Richard Harris fan, so he should like CoS. And I must just say, I found it very strange to be watching Harris in CoS. It just seemed to put a damper on the whole thing, I suppose. Ah well. Did you hear that Russell Crowe paid tribute to Harris by getting pissed in the old man's local pub? Despite the fact that I find Crowe to be one of the least talented, most arrogant... sorry, getting off the point... it was one of the most genuine tributes to the aul Irish hellraiser that I've heard of. Hope he's met up with Richard Burton in the bar.

Anyway, let's get off depressing stuff... I'm watching Casablanca and I had a HP thought:
Rick Blaine: Harry Potter.
Ilsa Lund: Hermione.
Victor Laslo: Ron.
Captain Renault: Draco.
Imagine a bleak wartime landscape. Voldemort has gained control of most of Britain/Europe and the only escape is to America from, say, Hogsmeade (the Casablanca style 'neutral' town). Harry is a cynical shell of a former hero, Draco is the 'gestapo spank' pandering to the needs of the Death Eaters while secretly despising them. By the end, he finally stands up for what he believes in. Harry once loved Hermione, but for her duty and what was expected of her won out and she went with Ron who is still a hero of the resistance. He needs her more than perhaps even he knows. They meet again and Hermione remembers her old, lost love Harry. By the end, Harry has rejoined the fight, knowing that Hermione does love him. And just like in the movie, she leaves with Ron. But don't despair- I always hope that Rick and Ilsa find each other again after the war and finally get their happy ending.

I'm rambling now. I'm sure I have more in depth reasons for thinking of them as such. Maybe Harry wouldn't give up being a hero, but love does funny things to people- especially when they lose it. Oh whatever!

I got into an amusing argument with a friend of mine today. He's a Biology student and suddenly realised how little work I have in comparison! I have six hours a week in class and will have three exams at the end of the year. He's got to do more essays in this one term than I have to do all year! AND he didn't get a year abroad in California (although he did come and visit me and Tasha for a week!). I think he's suddenly wondering why he didn't do American Studies!

Well, I've gone on for far long enough and not about anything particularly interesting. So, I'll be off. Maybe I'll manage to do this LJ thing with something resembling regularity, an' all!

Stay lucky!
