As I'm probably the only person you know (other than your parents) who was actually listening to music in the 1960s and 70s, I'll try to reply:
First and foremost, the Beatles. DUHHHHH. Also, in no particular order: Rolling Stones, the Hollies, Led Zeppelin, Cream, Derek & the Dominoes, Santana, Blood Sweat & Tears, Carole King, James Taylor, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, James Brown, Otis Redding, the Temptations, Gladys Knight & the Pips, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Thin Lizzie, the Doobie Brothers, Queen....I'm forgetting half of them, I'm sure. I had fairly broad tastes in music but I never liked the serious "heavy metal" stuff or headbanger stuff. I like music that's fairly melodic, with obviously good musicianship, and people who can sing, not scream :D
